Choose Signature Gear investments around the formation you use and the next benefit you can obtain. Start with your regular team, then compare what each next upgrade would change. Unlocking another weapon does not, by itself, make it the best place for your next resources.
Fund the team's current need
Use these as spending criteria. Read the weapon's current description before applying them: a hero's role suggests what matters, but it does not establish the effect of that hero's next Signature Gear upgrade.
| What limits the team | First candidate to compare | Reason to choose another upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| The team survives but cannot finish the fight | Your main damage dealer's next useful weapon benefit. | The benefit is too distant for your budget or another upgrade offers a more immediate improvement. |
| The front line collapses early | A weapon benefit that helps the hero holding that position. | The actual benefit does not address survival, or a regular gear or skill upgrade solves the problem sooner. |
| The team cannot sustain a long fight | A relevant benefit on the healer or support you consistently deploy. | That hero already survives and performs adequately, while damage remains the limiting factor. |
| A secondary team is required for your target activity | An upgrade that makes that team functional. | It would delay a more useful improvement to the formation you depend on most. |
Choose a target you can reach
Plan toward a specific useful benefit shown by the weapon, rather than distributing materials evenly because several heroes are eligible. Compare the total remaining cost with what you have and expect to obtain. If the target is out of reach, saving can be more sensible than starting several unrelated upgrades.
Concentration is a planning recommendation, not a promise that one maxed weapon always beats several partially upgraded weapons. Two affordable improvements may solve more of your current problem than a distant maximum level. Reassess when your lineup, available materials or next upgrade effects change.
Compare the same problem across other systems. The Gear Scraps and Hero Skill Manuals references can help you budget regular equipment and skills alongside a longer Signature Gear plan.
When a new hero joins the roster
Before redirecting your plan to a new hero, decide who they replace, whether their current development supports that job, and what their weapon would add. A new season is a reason to review the lineup; it does not establish that an underdeveloped replacement will perform better immediately.
- Compare the incoming hero with the hero they would replace in the activity you care about.
- Read the next weapon benefit and work out the full remaining investment needed to use it.
- Commit when the replacement and its benefit fit your plan; keep the current team functional during the transition.
