Choose research by what it will let you do next. A useful upgrade shortens repeated work, improves a team you use, raises the return from an event you play, or unlocks the next required step. A Power increase alone gives little guidance about its value.
Start with your current bottleneck
Read the effect and prerequisites of the next node before committing to a branch. Compare its remaining time and resource cost with another upgrade you could complete instead. The best choice can change after a new troop unlock, a difficult battle or a shift in your event participation.
| Area | Move it up when | Pause when |
|---|---|---|
| Development | Research or construction speed would benefit a long queue of planned upgrades. | The next small bonus would delay a more useful unlock. |
| Alliance Duel | You participate consistently and an available node improves tasks or rewards you actually use. | The next benefit applies to activities you rarely complete. |
| Combat | Reports show a weakness in the troops or team you field most often. | The bonus affects an unused troop type or does not address the reason you lose. |
| Troops | Research is a required step toward a troop tier you can unlock and support. | Another missing requirement still leaves the tier far out of reach. |
| Hospital and healing | Repeated fighting makes recovery capacity, time or cost a constraint. | Current recovery already covers your normal fighting schedule. |
| Economy | A recurring resource shortage prevents construction, research or training. | The next improvement is small and a more useful unlock is available. |
Build recurring benefits early
Research and construction speed deserve an early look because you may use their benefits across many later upgrades. Follow the prerequisite path to the benefit you want. Stop when that path is complete and compare the next level with your other options; finishing the entire branch is a separate decision.
For regular Alliance Duel participation, inspect scoring and reward bonuses before spending a large stockpile. Check which tasks each bonus affects and whether you can finish the research before the relevant spending. A bonus aimed at an activity you skip has less practical value than its headline suggests.
Research for the battles you actually fight
Use battle reports to choose between health, attack and defense. If your frontline falls before the team can act, investigate survivability and formation together. If the team survives but cannot finish an opponent, inspect damage-related bonuses. There is no demonstrated universal rule that health must always precede attack and defense.
Before pursuing a higher troop tier, check the complete unlock path and the resources needed to use it. Put required research ahead of optional bonuses when the unlock is within reach. Training speed or capacity is useful when it helps a training schedule you can keep supplied.
Move support research up when it solves a problem
Active fighters should review Hospital and healing improvements before committing to another combat push. Reassess after changes to your Hospital or event rules; a familiar recovery limit may no longer describe the current game. Version 2.6.0 changed Hospital healing capacity as well as some Power Plant prerequisites.
For economy research, name the shortage you want to fix. Gathering speed helps a plan built around regular gathering; extra carrying capacity matters when load is the limit. A production bonus should be compared with the resources and research time it consumes.
Set a stopping point before starting
- Choose a specific benefit or unlock.
- Identify only the prerequisite levels needed to reach it.
- Compare that path with the best alternative use of your time and resources.
- Reassess after the unlock, rather than automatically starting the next node.
Plan the next project around your Power Plant construction priorities. Use event timing for optional speedups, but keep necessary progression moving when waiting would cost more than the extra reward.
