Choose one main team before spreading fragments, skill manuals, and gear across your roster. Give each hero a job, then spend where the next upgrade will improve that team most.
These priorities are a practical planning framework. Hero value depends on your available roster, stars, skills, season, and battle results.
Choose your main five
Start with a durable frontline, reliable damage, and enough support to keep that damage working. A tank, a second frontline or bruiser, two damage dealers, and a healer or support is one possible balance. Change that balance when the encounter or your developed roster calls for it.
Compare stars, important skills, gear, enhancements, and relevant reforges before choosing a hero. A developed hero can contribute more today than a newly unlocked replacement. Use March Formations to check positioning and faction bonuses.
Use hero roles as investment criteria
Read the hero’s current skill descriptions, then compare the next upgrade with the problem shown in battle. Use these criteria for the role that hero actually fills.
| Role | Investment focus | When to change priority |
|---|---|---|
| Main tank | Health, defense, and survival skills | Move damage up when the tank already holds reliably and another upgrade would help finish the fight. |
| Damage dealer | Damage skills and offensive gear | Address survival first if early deaths prevent the hero from attacking. |
| Bruiser or second frontline | Enough survival to remain active, then useful damage | Compare the reason for losses before following either a pure tank or damage build. |
| Healer or support | The skills that sustain or support the team, with enough survival to use them | Distinguish dying too early from staying alive with inadequate support output. |
Tarzan: survival and damage both have a purpose
The official v2.4.100 notes describe Crushing Blow as entering a counter state: taking damage can trigger damage to nearby targets based on Tarzan’s Attack. That gives both survival and Attack a reason to matter.
If Tarzan is absorbing pressure and falls before contributing, address survival first. If he survives reliably and the team needs more damage, consider offensive improvements. This is a role-based interpretation of the documented skill, not proof of one universal gear-slot order.
Spend in a useful order
- Identify the next useful star or skill upgrade for a main-team hero. Avoid spreading fragments across heroes you do not use.
- Prioritize the skills that perform that hero’s job. Use the Hero Skill Manuals reference to plan the cost.
- Equip suitable gear, then improve the piece that addresses the team’s weakest point. Consult Gear Scraps before spending.
- Refine reforges after the main team has a usable foundation. Match effects to role, faction, and troop type; a rarer irrelevant effect does not solve a role problem.
Main damage dealer, main tank, second core hero, then support is a useful starting order. Move survival or healing earlier when it is what prevents the team from functioning. Do not keep upgrading an already strong piece while another main hero has an obvious gap.
Replace heroes gradually
For a Season 1 to Season 2 transition, build and compare one replacement at a time. Keep the established team working until the newcomer can fill the intended job. A higher rarity or a new release alone does not establish better performance.
Keep heroes with useful PvE or gathering skills available for those tasks. Check the displayed utility effect before diverting premium combat gear from the main team. Develop additional combat marches once your main team is dependable.
